Sick of Smoking up Belts on Your Mulcher?

Do you find yourself asking, why do I keep smoking up belts on my Mulcher?

You may find the answer in this article!

This is the curse of the mulcher industry and is caused by the following issues.

Not Enough Belts

This is a common problem, as a general rule you can run 30HP through a belt so if you have 6 belts you can run 180 HP (as long as the gearbox is rated for this) Agriline offers several configurations for this in the Vigolo range. Here are some links to different HP rated machines.

So, if a salesman tells you that a machine with 6 belts is rated for 250HP you will know instantly that he lacks knowledge on mulchers.

Quality of Belts

No all V-Belts are created equal! Agriline only runs top quality European belts giving much better power delivery and belt life.

Belt Tension

It always pays to check belts after they have done a couple of hours from new as they can settle in. If unsure talk to a mulcher specialist on 0800 24 74 54 to check how to tension your belts correctly.

Auto Belt Tensioners

Here at Agriline we prefer manual belt tensioners, they are the only way to get the most drive out of your belts. Auto tensioners can work ok but you just need more belts than a manual system to get the same HP rating as there is always some give in them. Any belt tensioner that put pressure on the back of the belt is a poor design as V-belts are not designed to curve that direction and it will greatly decrease the life of the Belts.
